How Do or Drink Works

Do or drink is a dare-based drinking card game: on your turn you draw a card (or, here, take the next prompt off the list), read the dare out loud, and either do it or take a drink. That's the entire rulebook. Unlike truth or drink there's nothing to confess — the pressure is all in whether you'll actually stand up and do the thing, which is exactly why the game gets loud fast.

The standard turn format runs clockwise: each player takes one prompt per turn, and the group works down the list from tame to dirty as the night goes on. Some prompts carry a bigger forfeit — 'or drink twice' — for dares that deserve extra credit. House-rule favorites include letting the group vote on whether a half-hearted attempt counts (failed dares drink anyway) and letting a player pass a dare to someone else once per game at the cost of drinking double.

Play it responsibly and it stays fun all night: soda, mocktails, and water count as drinks with zero penalty, so non-drinkers play at full strength. Call water rounds between sections, keep an eye on your own limits, and never pressure anyone to drink or to perform a dare — a free skip now and then costs the game nothing. If a dare involves another player, they have to be willing; 'a willing player' means exactly that.
